   - **Only `latin` and `latin-ext`.** Together they cover French and the

     twenty more files this UI never renders a glyph from.
   - **Sans is one file per subset, not three.** Google ships IBM Plex Sans as
     a *variable* font and answers `wght@400;500;600` with the same instanced
     file three times over. Declaring the range once says what is true and
     stops the browser from being told to fetch one file under three names.
     Mono is genuinely static, so it keeps a file per weight.

   `font-display: swap` survives the move: the files are local now, but a cold
   cache still has to fetch them, and text readable in the fallback beats text
   that is invisible.

   Filenames pin family + weight + subset, so a file's bytes never change
   under its own name — no cache-busting query is needed on the `url()`s
   below, unlike aegis.css and this stylesheet, which are edited in place. */
